Home : Out and About : Places to Visit : Creswell Crags

A limestone gorge with stone tools and remains of animals found in numerous caves.  It also contains Britain's only known Ice Age rock art.  A new visitor centre and museum are now open and there are also walks around the gorge as well as longer walks.  The visitor centre runs two types of tours, the young travellers tour geared towards younger visitors and their families and the Life in the Ice Age Tour where you can explore what life was like here thousands of years ago. Visitors can take a gentle walk around the lake, pausing to read the information boards located near the caves.  Opening times Feb to the end of October 10.30 am - 4.30 pm daily. Nov to the end of Jan 10.30 am to 4.30 pm Sundays only.  Please check dates and times before going and it is advisable to book tours as places are limited.  Tel 01909 720378.
